Adrian Sylveen – violin
Maestro Adrian Sylveen enjoys a performing career both in theUSand inEurope. He serves as Artistic Director of the Connecticut Virtuosi, New Britain Symphony – The Connecticut Virtuosi Orchestra – Magnum Opus, Connecticut Lyric Opera, and the Classical Orchestra of Pila inPoland. He is also a frequent guest conductor with several leading Polish orchestras. An active violin soloist as well as conductor, he has performed concerts and recitals inPoland,Switzerland,Germany, formerSoviet Union, and theUnited States. Mr. Sylveen graduated with distinction from thePaderewskiMusicAcademyinPoznan,Poland, and holds Master and post-Master degrees from the Yale University School of Music. He is a winner of prizes and awards at competitions inPolandand in theUnited States, and had participated in several international Festivals such asWeimar, Lancut and others. Mr. Sylveen was awarded several prestigious scholarships and awards, including “Primus Inter Pares” Award given by the President of theRepublicofPoland. He was awarded permanentUSresidence for “Extraordinary Abilities in the Arts”.
Albanian violin prodigy Brunilda Myftaraj ( executive director of the Virtuosi Music Academy) has drawn enthusiastic accolades from audiences as well as critical acclaim for her masterful musicianship in Albania, Italy, Greece, France, Morocco, Austria, Switzerland, Poland and in the United States. She has been praised recently by the New London Day critic as an “especially fine and beautiful player”. In the United States She has performed as soloist with the Hartford Symphony Orchestra and the Connecticut Virtuosi Chamber Orchestra of which she is now a concertmaster, and presented recitals at the Piano and Friends Chamber Music series inTucsonArizona, Mostly Mozart series inNapaValley, the Schubert Club inMinneapolis and more. She has been featured on radio stations in NY, CT and MA and on the Hartford Current paper. The first prize winner of the Van Roy competition, Emerson Quartet competition she was also a semifinalist and participant in prestigious competitions such as the Young Artist Guild in NY, Indianapolis International Violin Competition and the Lipizer Competition in Gorizia, Italy. Ms. Myftaraj was twice a winner of the Mediterranean Youth Orchestra. She is a member of the Elektra Ensemble (piano trio) and graduated with the Highest Honors from the renowned Conservatory of Fine Arts in Tirana, and has studied throughoutEurope and theUnited States. Her teachers have included, Proletare Skenderi, Piero Faulli of the Quartetto Italiano, Alberto Lissy, Phil Setzer, Eugene Drucker, Rafael Druian and Renato Bonacini.
NATHANIEL BAKER took up the piano at age 7. Since then, he has studied with Benita Rose, Margarita Nuller and Luiz de Moura-Castro and has participated in master classes with Paul Badura-Skoda, Diane Andersen, Dmitry Rachmanov, Ludovica Mosca, Watson Morrison and Adawagin Pratt, among others.
Nathaniel has performed throughout New England and in Spain and Portugal. During his high school years he won numerous local competitions, including the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Youth Orchestra’s Victor Norman Competition(1st place in 2002, 3rd place in 2001), the Connecticut State Music Teachers’ Association competition(Winners’ Circle, 1998-2002), the Windham Regional Arts Council competition (1st place 1997-2002) and the Hartt Honors Recital (top scorer 2002, 2003).
