Tyler Gauruder, viola, violin Sarah Barrett, cello
Tyler Gauruder, a Manchester, CT native, began his viola studies at age 10. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Viola Performance from the Hartt School, and a Master’s Degree in Viola Performance. He studied with Steve Larson. Tyler has also played the violin since age 16. A seasoned teacher, Tyler also performs regularly with the Torrington Symphony, Beth El Temple Symphony, and Colchester Symphony, as well as a soloist with those orchestras. He has recorded numerous soundtracks for small films, as well as jazz and pop artists. Tyler has been teaching violin and viola for 20 years, as well as coaching chamber ensembles. He often records new works with ensembles throughout the Hartford area, as well as performing in the pit for operas and musicals. He has extensive experience with music ranging from the Baroque era through Modern, as well as popular music, jazz, movie soundtracks, opera, and musical theater.
Sarah Barrett, a native of the Philadelphia area, began her study of the cello at age four. She holds a Bachelors of Music in Cello Performance from the Hartt School, and a Masters of Music in Cello Performance and Suzuki Pedagogy from The Hartt School. She studied with Professor Mihai Tetel, and has received Suzuki Training from Blake Brasch. Sarah has performed with the Hartt School Symphony Orchestra and is a regular member of both the Torrington Symphony and the Beth El Temple Symphony orchestras. She has recorded on soundtracks for several short films and for music artists including Orice Jenkins and Kenny Hambler. She also performs regularly in musical theater pits throughout Connecticut. Sarah has also premiered works for Cello and Orchestra with the Torrington Symphony Orchestra. Sarah maintains a private teaching studio and performs throughout the Hartford County area as a freelance musician. She has been teaching cello for 16 years, chamber groups and ensembles for 15 years, and violin/viola for 10 years. Sarah also has extensive experience with classical styles ranging from Baroque to Romantic, as well as musical theatre, opera, movie soundtracks, and pop music.
